GLI SPETTACOLI

ArbuzARBUZ

production: Guascone Teatro (Anno 1996)
director and performers: Adriano Miliani, Alexey Merkuschev
and Andrea Kaemmerle

Arbuz (wich in Russian means water-melon) is the title of our performance and it's like us: it is cheerful, it has a “good end” so all the members of the audience are happy and deeply moved by it and they clap.
The characters of the play are the same as in our dreams: a wildly staring Don Quiyote, Sancho, Dulcinea, a sailor, a skater girl, two murderers, a single man and a lot of other people created by the romantic madness of a poet that loiters about stage’s board or about the streets of a far city accompanied by a type-writer.
In fact it is cheerful but not stupid: in it stories and traces common to everyone like love, violence, adventure appear and disappear; the truth is that we are not going to tell you anything new but we are going to talk to you in a different way.
Arbuz is almost devoid of speech so Alexey’s pantomime and the pirouettes of two awkward clowns will narrate you the story of the journey recreating a magic and unreal atmosphere that nowadays only the theatre and its water-melon can recreate
